I always feel a bit silly posting here as no one is reading it!! Wonderful Saturday, spent at the beach with family, my husband's cousins and their two adorable daughters! Tonight my husband and daughter are leaving for a few days, he to a new job and she to her cousins for a week. As much as I like my time alone, I like it so much more when they are in the house with me and I can just duck into my bedroom for an hour or two. I will miss them!

In other news, my RM MAM bag arrived and is in a box on my desk ..... I am dying to open it but don't want to in front the co-workers .... silly of me in a way but I feel guilty spending money. (And it's none of their business anyway!!)

Just a quickie, LOL

Working a half day (love summer Fridays, we rotate long days) and running out to Nordie's for the Anniversary Sale. Really trying not too spend too much but I love Majestic T's and they are on sale!! There is also a cool pair of Vince stretch pants (i know that sounds bad) that I want to try!

So I haven't been very good at this posting thing, I can tell you that! It's kind of hard to be motivated when it's not clear if anyone is reading! This weekend is a bit of an example of doing things for obligation reasons: 3 (!) dance recitals, where honestly, most of the time my DD and I are hanging around together waiting for her to go on for her 3 minute dance. And tomorrow morning, I agreed to volunteer at the Pancake Breakfast at the lake (we are part of a lake association -- we've been living there for 20 years and I've never gotten around to getting involved). I'm kind of into the volunteering gig, but honestly, I don't know that many people and have never felt a "part" of this community. It's a great place, but since I've always worked, I was never able to take advantage of the weekday activities and that is where all the women meet each other. I've always wanted to work, but maybe I'm a bit resentful about not being able to hang out on the beach all summer!

I've been wanting to cook this weekend too. I just got a recipe from Mark Bittman's site for Tofu Chocolate pudding -- don't say yuck until you've tried it!

Recipe

Mexican Chocolate Tofu Pudding

By MARK BITTMAN

Time: 10 minutes, plus 30 minutes’ chilling

3/4 cup sugar

1 pound silken tofu

8 ounces high-quality bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon chili powder, or more to taste

Chocolate shavings (optional).

1. In a small pot, combine sugar with 3/4 cup water; bring to a boil and cook until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly.

2. Put all ingredients except for chocolate shavings in a blender and purée until completely smooth, stopping machine to scrape down its sides if necessary. Divide among 4 to 6 ramekins and chill for at least 30 minutes. If you like, garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.

Yield: 4 to 6 servings.

well , I got the ebay necklace pictured in my last post, ripped open the package while still in the car in the garage, SO excited (!) and then hated it, LOL ......it's going back to the seller. I was so disappointed and even though it "looks" nice, it was really lightweight and cheap. Ah, well. Maybe that will teach me not to buy vintage jewelry on ebay.

So it's been supernaturally hot here for a few days and this weekend, in a panic, I started doing the dreaded seasonal clothing move. My DD and I got through the shoes and hanging clothes and then I begged for mercy. I could not move on to the folded stuff. It's exhausting. Especially when everything I've taught her for 13 years has started to come back at me ..... and she has watched way too many "What Not to Wear" episodes and forced me to throw stuff out. I know it's for the best (really, I hadn't worn the stuff for years!) but I don't have the money right now to buy new stuff! I recently bought this Jcrew cabana dress, primarily for a cover-up but now I am wondering if I can wear it layered over a tank for everyday wear. And I did get it in this color -- I figured it won't show stains (i'm always thinking about this!) and I could make it look cool with accessories. Of course, it's not this short on me. Oh, and I LOVE that it has pockets!! I wish I could find more dresses with pockets.

So last night's jewelry party was really nice. As always the food and drink were great, and the jewelry so pretty. I love the 3 necklaces here but ended up with the earrings which of course, I am wearing today! (am I the only one that wears stuff immediately after buying it?)
Getting dressed this morning was a challenge. A. it started out at 39 degrees and is going up to 70 B. I still haven't unpacked from San Diego!

I tried to plan a jewelry party for a friend of mine tonight, and it was amazing to me how many people could not (would not?)come. A. everyone I know is super busy and B. no one has any money .....

Kevyn Aucoin The Liquid Airbrush Foundation

My skin is gorgeous with this stuff, but be aware, it goes on much better with a primer (I'm using Smashbox). Most days I just use my Bare Escentuals mineral foundation but on days I want to look really polished, this foundation is the bomb! (did I really just say that? God, I sound like a 20 year old.)And you only need really less than one pump for your whole face.

it's the economy, stupid

Haha, it took me a good 5 minutes to figure out how to do a new post. DUH. So things are doing so well at the office that all of us are thinking about getting part time jobs. And I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't tell DH yet because he will bombard me with 1001 ideas for building this business up. Hello?? The entire economy is shot to hell at the moment!! Finally I'm not blaming myself and thinking that I am a complete failure. (Well, I may feel that way tomorrow again.)

Can't stop coughing and we're going to San Diego tomorrow and DD is sneezing and coughing too! BUT I did get a gift of an order today so somehow that always makes everything better. I was hoping to leave early today ...... so much to do with packing and getting the house in order before we leave. All the Passover stuff is out -- ugh, don' t really want to come home to that!

Whoa what have I done????

I've been so bored at work that I decided (at 48 years old, no less) to start a blog .....What???!! Apparently I am VERY bored. I haven't written on a regular basis in 20 years, so the blank page is daunting to say the least.

So it's Friday and this weekend I need to do some major Spring cleaning. Somehow getting my closet in order tricks me into thinking my life is in order! nah, I think it will just help me get dressed in the morning in something OTHER than jeans and a black JCrew perfect fit T.
